The Fathers Love
It is one thing to know that God is love. It is another thing to know in an experiential way, as revealed by the Holy Spirit, our Father’s heart of love.
The condition of our own heart can blind us to the fullness of the Father’s love. Coming to the end of self is important, but it does not bring a complete change of heart. It is only the beginning of change. This teaching will reveal the heart of two brothers, who each, in their own way, were full of themselves, but neither fully knew the heart of their own father. His heart towards them never changed. It was always a heart of unconditional love.
Because of the condition of our own heart, we can be blind to the fullness of the Father’s love, especially when there are strong judgments from the beliefs within your heart. It is one thing to know that God is love, even as it says in 1 John 4:8, that He is love. It is another thing to know in an experiential way, as revealed by the Holy Spirit, our Father’s heart of love, as described in Luke 15:17-24.
Jesus’ parable of the lost son reveals the Father’s true heart: “But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him … But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' And they began to be merry."
